Murphy's Law

"Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong."
Everyone knows this famous saying. It's hard enough keeping a positive attitude when everything is going right, because we know when things seem to be going smoothly...WHaCK!...Murphy's Law
hits you head-on.

And right now I could really complain about the things that haven't gone right, but I wont.
It's not worth it.Worrying wont fix my problems or make me feel any better.
It normally makes it 10x's worse.

So, as I'm swinging in my hammock on the back porch - I'm trying to name just 5 things right now that are wonderful. Ok, here goes nothing:

1. I'm in my hammock just swinging away
2. Bear is right beside me & he loves when I'm home
3.The only thing I hear right now are the crickets singing that familiar song
4. My husband & family are freakin' fantastic
5. I have the freedom to have an opinion & write about absolute squat if I want to.

My brother always says, "When you think you have it bad, someone else has it much worse".  And as I get older I realize that that is 100% true. We get caught up in such pettiness - that we lose track of what really matters. We rely so much on other people that we can hardly do anything for ourselves, and we take for granted the people that we love - that we don't even realize it until it's too late.

So,I will wrap this up with one thing. To all my friends & family, "I love you!" I know that I don't show it enough or say it enough.

What "Mother" Means

"Mother" is such a simple word,
But to me there’s meaning seldom heard.
For everything I am today,
My mother’s love showed me the way.
I’ll love my mother all my days,
For enriching my life in so many ways.
She set me straight and then set me free,
And that’s what the word "mother" means to me.
Thanks for being a wonderful mother, Mom!

I can't wait to share the love in my heart with our baby~wherever he/she may be.  I am praying for God's grace through this journey we are on. I know He will provide in His time, the family that we long for. Sometimes I wish I could talk to our child & let them them know that I am getting little things ready for them here at home. I already have some great books to read before bedtime, some family treasures that have been passed down in our family and of course Bear can't wait to play with you in the back yard!
I can't wait to hold them & tell them how much I love them - and have loved them before I ever knew them ~

Just Give Up!

With all of the hustle & bustle of this life we live, do you ever just want to throw your hands in the air & wave the white flag and say, "I give up!"?  I know this has to sound horrible, but seriously, today I just need to vent.
Sometimes, you do everything just right & it's still not good enough. Or you try to take care of everyone else & you don't have time to take care of yourself. Or your too dang tired to care if you do or not.

Stress is so evil. Can I say that again?! STRESS is EVIL!! Ha - I'm feeling better already.
If you look up your symptoms on WebMD, stress is always a factor for whatever ails you.

I'm just getting overwhelmed. It's like being in quicksand - slowly going under....

Sweet Success

Well, It's been 1 week...... and I have lost 3lbs!!! Woo hoo!!!
Not a huge success, but losing is better than gaining.
Other than some bad headaches, I think I can really do this.

This next week I am going to work on drinking more water.

Is This Over Yet?

I am realizing that I have a mental love affair with food.
I love eating good food when I'm happy, sad, anxious, or bored.
It temporarily fixes everything! Because when I eat that hot, fresh, mouth-watering food I don't have to deal with whatever is going on. It's not easy to admit that food, especially sweets, is my drug of choice.

So, I've made it over the weekend on my diet & I'm so proud of myself!
I've eaten fruits, veggies & watched my portions.
I even went out & bought a digital scale so I would know just exactly what I weigh & how much I'm losing.
I don't know whether to weigh every morning or just once a week - I've heard a good debate from both sides.
It's really easy to get stoked up in the beginning, but it's just been a few days & I'm already feeling blah about this whole thing. So, please leave me comments of support or I would love some recipes!

Signing out for now - we will see how this day goes.

Horrible News

Well, the day has finally come....... my doctor said that I HAVE to lose weight!
I have to confess that when the nurse was weighing me I thought it was a joke - I was praying that I was on candid camera. But sadly, that wasn't the case. I weigh more now than I ever have.

So, I'm trying to get a good attitude about everything I'm about to endure.
No more sweets, no more fried chicken, no more sweet tea ! (This is where I would say "No more fun"!)
But I can't think like that - I'm changing my lifestyle - I will feel better, sleep better & play better :)
So today, May 21st 2010, marks the 1st day of the rest of my life.
I'm posting all of this to help me - I'm hoping that all of you will help support me in this new journey of becoming healthy & happy with myself. So, please leave comments of encouragement, everyday tips & healthy recipes!!
I can't fail at this one.... . . . I just can't.

Before & After

Finally Friday....Surprise!

Well, it had been a long hard week - Jared had to work late every night & I was looking  forward to the weekend. Time to spend with Jared, catching up on all we had missed during the week! But on Friday my sweet man called me & said, "Guess what? I'm getting off at 5 tonight!" So, we decided to pack a picnic, hop into the Samurai & drive to Devil's Den. At this point I was so excited to actually get to see my man & just relax on a fun drive! So, I pulled my jeans on, grabbed my head scarf & my "movie star" sunglasses. We had a fabulous drive, grabbed the picnic basket & headed toward the new pavillion ....... and .......SURPRISE!!

I saw a huge group of people & they were all singing "Happy Birthday" !
I have to say I have the best of the best when it comes to my family & friends - Thank you all for a great surprise birthday party! Love!

You have to understand that Jared is so good to me & he really does great with all the major holidays, but my birthday hasn't ever turned out just right. So this year I wasn't really excited about my birthday for a few reasons :

1st of all, if I don't expect much - then I wont be disappointed ( I know I'm being a brat about my b-day)
2nd of all, I was turning 26! Which Kathy tells me that I might as well be 30..thanks a lot.
And 3rd, this was going to be the 1st birthday in 26 years that I didn't spend celebrating with Tara.
I knew that I wouldn't be getting a phone call from her or anything. . . I miss her deeply. And since I shared my birthday with all the mother's around the world, I thought I would celebrate with Tara - I went to visit her & got her some beautiful flowers for Mother's Day.
I'm going to post some more pics from my party & possibly some old pics too!

DALLAS -OR-BUST!

Well, after several pit-stops, girl talk & intense conversations with our GPS we made it to Dallas!!
It seems like every year on this trip we eat a little more & find more fabulous deals ~  I'm officially in love
with Sam Moon !! We were on total overload when we walked in the door, but we made our plan of attack & made it though the whole store - it was heavenly! I would have to say that this trip was a total success :)

Sweet Anticipation

Well, the girls & I have planned our annual weekend getaway and now that the weekend is upon us we are getting super pumped to hit the open road & S-H-O-P!!  So we have been making our  master plan of what shops we have to hit & new restaurants we must try - in the midst of beginning our trip some of us get psyched up because we can't wait to be at our destination and the rest of us love the sweet anticipation of the trip itself....

Here are a few pictures from our previous trips. I'll post pictures of this weekend when we get back!

To Be - Or Not To Be?

There are clubs for almost everything these days! Anything you're interested in or already do, there is some sort of club for you to become a member. In the old days there was the Masons Club for the men & the Eastern Stars for the women. . . .

Now that we will be extending our family in the near future, some new decisions much be made.
Right now, my thoughts are to be in the"stay-at-home mom" club or to stay in the "I'm a working woman" club.
So, naturally I made a list comparing the pros & cons for each club.
Of course my 1st thought is how can I give up my income, insurance & adult interaction?
My 2nd thought is how can I give up teaching my children how to say their ABC's & see them take their
first step or hearing them say,"ma-ma & da-da"?
When we were 1st married, I had the privilege of being a housewife for about 4-6 months. There was nothing glamorous about the life we lived. We learned the value of a dollar & had to make every dollar count. We had to lean on each other -  we truly lived on love!
And some days we actually miss those days. Jared would go to work early in the morning, then I would be able to run errands, do some cleaning & have supper ready when he made it home. It was a very simple life. . . but it was right. Now, I wonder if we could go back to scrimping & saving for what we have.....or stay a working mom & juggle everything for my family. Could I do it? I don't know. Will I have to do it? I don't know that either. Could I win the Powerball? ....I could...maybe....someday....I hope.....

So, to be or not to be? That is the question........for today anyway.
